Quick Tips

Make Your Own Sliced Apples That LastPreserve apples
Those packages of pre-sliced apples you can buy at the store are great for a healthy snack on the go but the price can add up. Make your own on the go snack that won't spoil for days. Start by slicing apples and soaking them in cold water for 3-5 minutes. Then soak them in a lemon-lime carbonated soda (such as 7-up or Sprite) for another 3-5 minutes. The lemon-lime soda will keep the apples from browning and make them last longer. Divide into snack size portions and store in Ziploc bags in the fridge.

Clean Stains Out of Plastic Containers
Remove stains on plastic containers
Easy how-to on removing spaghetti and other sauce stains from your plastic containers:
1. Fill the container with water until the stain is fully submerged and add a squirt of dish soap
2. Add 1/4 cup of bleach
3. Microwave the container for 40 seconds, or until the solution is hot
4. Allow the container to rest until the water has cooled
5. Wash out your container and it is as good as new!
A New Look at Silverware DividersOrganizing silverware
This idea is so simple and it looks much better than using a plastic divider.
1. Measure the width of your drawer.
2. Cut a wooden board, about 3/4 an inch thick, to fit inside the drawer.
3. Paint the wooden inserts you cut to match the drawer.
4. Measure and divide the drawer into the desired number of equally spaced compartments.
5. Fasten the wooden inserts you built using screws or wood glue
